Home EV Charging That Is Safe, Fast, and Properly Set Up

Charging an electric vehicle from a standard power point works, but it is slow, inefficient, and puts ongoing load on a circuit that was never designed for it. A dedicated home EV charger installation gives faster charging speeds, a safer electrical setup, and the peace of mind that comes from knowing the job was done by a licenced electrician to Australian standards. The Ceiling Fan Man provides EV charger installation for Central Coast homes, handling the full setup from assessing the existing switchboard through to mounting the charger and testing it ready to use.

Most home EV charger installations require a dedicated circuit run from the switchboard to the garage or carport, with the charger hardwired or connected to a correctly rated outlet. Scott and Steve assess the home’s existing electrical setup first, confirming the switchboard can support the additional load and advising on what is needed before any work begins. Every installation is completed to AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules and tested before sign-off.

Faster Charging Every Single Night

Charging from a standard 10-amp power point can take upward of 12 hours to add meaningful range. A dedicated home EV charger unit operates on a higher-powered circuit and can charge most vehicles overnight with ease. We set up the right charger for the vehicle and the home, so waking up to a full battery becomes the normal morning experience.

Dedicated Circuit, Done Correctly

Every home EV charger installation needs a dedicated circuit run from the switchboard. Sharing a circuit with other appliances introduces the risk of nuisance tripping and ongoing load issues. We will install every EV charger on its own dedicated circuit, correctly sized for the charger’s output and protected by the right breaker from the start.

Hardwired or Outlet Installation

Some EV chargers are designed to be hardwired directly to the home’s electrical system. Others connect via a dedicated outlet rated for the charging load. Scott and Steve handles both types correctly, choosing the right approach for the specific charger and home setup, with every connection made to AS/NZS 3000 Wiring Rules before the charger is commissioned.

Maintenance and Ongoing Performance

A home EV charger requires very little ongoing maintenance. Keeping the unit dry, storing the cable correctly when not in use, and having a licenced electrician check connections periodically is typically all that is needed. If a fault develops, we’re available for electrical repairs and will assess the issue promptly.

The Process, From Switchboard Check to First Full Charge

A home EV charger installation follows a clear process from start to finish. Scott and Steve begin with an assessment of the home’s existing switchboard to confirm it can support the additional load. If a switchboard upgrade is needed first, that can be arranged before the charger installation proceeds. Once the electrical system is confirmed as capable, a dedicated circuit is run to the garage or carport, the charger is mounted in the right position, and the full setup is tested and commissioned before the job is complete.

Getting a quote is the first step. We’ll ask you about the vehicle, the preferred charger model, and the layout of the property to plan the most practical installation route. For new builds, additional power point installs can be incorporated into the same electrical plan at the same time. For existing homes, the focus is on the safest and most efficient route from the switchboard to where the car parks.
